Volunteer Vacation
Kenya has contrasting faces. At one point there is splendor and beauty and at the other, there are sufferings beyond the wildest imaginations. Volunteer vacation is a refined way to travel, have fun and at the same time help cultivate brotherhood amongst nations globally by helping put food on the table for those who have little, help refurbish children's homes and clothe the destitute. Every year, Safari Simplified donates 10% of our profits towards helping the less fortunate in our community.
Poverty is a root cause to most child rights violations and children living in it are deprived of socio-economic rights such as education, access to health care, adequate nutrition, water and housing as well as civil and political rights. Due to this poverty, abuse and HIV/AIDS, there are thousands of children without adult support in Kenya . Safari Simplified's main intervention is to prevent these children from ending up on the streets by supporting temporary/permanent shelters that provide alternative education/accommodation to these marginalized and displaced children.
Our second area of concern is the education of girl-child. There is a huge imbalance in rights, responsibilities and workload between women and men. Early marriages, the low status of women in society and the scarcity of funds for education (believed to be better invested in the boy's education) prevent girls from being well educated. Female genital mutilation is also a harmful tradition practice that is wide spread in many parts of Kenya and which puts girl-child out of school. In this regard, Safari Simplified gathers information, listens to girls and analyses their everyday reality. We provide direct support to girls in need as well as support organizations and networks that work towards improving the girl-child's future.
